_Dirty Projectors – Ascending Melody

l e2f4ceac18ed42f2bae45a912759ebe7 Dirty Projectors Ascending Melody

Earlier this year, I attended a Dirty Projectors show and it was simply amazing. I was pretty familiar with all of the songs they played, but when they started playing “Ascending Melody” (called “That’s My Move” at the time), I was confused to as where this track belonged.

Well the studio version of that song has finally made its way to the internet, and getting a place as a b-side in the 12” of Temecula Sunrise. The track is like any other Dirty Projectors song, mixing the odd instruments together in a way that you would normally find annoying, but they way they do it is magical.

_Britney Spears – 3 (Music Video)

Britney Spears‘ new music video for her single “3” was released yesterday, and I am definitely disappointed.

There was much hype about the visual for the super-catchy song that led Britney fans into ultimate excitement, counting down the days until the premiere of the video. Tons of promos and screencaps were promoted, teasing the fans.

The video though, was boring, to say the least. There was no video concept, she was barely dancing (unless you call holding a pole and moving your hips ‘dancing’), and you can even tell by her eyes that she didn’t want to be there.

_Florence + the Machine – You’ve Got the Love (XX Remix)

The single just came out, but the XX is quickly catching on and remixed Florence’s “You’ve Got The Love”, as well as releasing the remix video to it as well.

The remix, as all remixes, has upgraded the song into a new level. It is completely different, and I think this should be called a cover instead of a remix. I would’ve believed it was a cover the first listen if someone told me so. It is a really good remix though.

The video, on the other hand, lacked energy. The only thing in the video that matched to the song was the rhythm of the editing of the video, but the mood of the song did not translate well through the video.

_Lady GaGa is Dazed and Confused

ladygaga title2 Lady GaGa is Dazed and Confused
Well, not literally!

Lady Gaga is featured in Dazed and Confused, and they shot this amazing, beautiful short film of her wearing exquisite pieces from amazing designers such as the rising David Koma.

Dazed Digital exclusively premieres an inspiring collaboration between Lady Gaga and fashion filmmaker Kathryn Ferguson, displaying a very different side to this year’s most exhilarating pop phenomenon. Shot during rehearsals for her London shows, this intimate short film showcases Gaga’s love of some of fashion’s most pioneering names, as well as a show-stopping piano composition created by Gaga uniquely for this collaboration.

Watch the video after the jump, the video starts immediately so I didn’t want to annoy everyone by putting it on the homepage and letting it play everytime. (more…)

_Passion Pit – Little Secrets (Hey Champ Remix)

Passion+Pit+passion pit Passion Pit Little Secrets (Hey Champ Remix)

It’s been awhile since Passion Pit blessed my speakers. So long that I could barely recognized the difference between the band’s original version of “Little Secrets” and Hey Champ’s epic remix. Hey Champ takes Passion Pit’s well-liked “Little Secrets” and awakens it in a new, fresh light for all to rekindle the love for the track.

They take their brilliant production techniques and play with bridge, as well as, remake the sound of the chorus. The remix switches up the baseline and makes it sparkle with a danceable beat. The energy of the original is kept, but the DJs add a new freshness to the overall sound. Adding a “happy go lucky” character to an already popular song, the remix results in undeniable greatness.

This track proves how luminous and talented these guys are. Its basically an 80s dance party on the 1 and 2s.

_Spike Jones Bitchslaps Kanye West, Wishes We Could Too

You may have seen Spike Jones’ short film titled “We Were Once A Fairytale” featuring Kanye West that leaked last week (I didn’t post it, though) on other blogs, but it looks like it has finally been released on iTunes.

To celebrate this release, the director/producer has released a short clip of the behind the scenes while filming the short film. In the whole 40 second interview, Jones tries to speak to Kanye who is texting on his phone, and Spike gets mad for not paying direct attention so he bitchslaps Kanye in the face (staged, of course).

Oh, we all wish we could do that to Kanye.

_Girls – Lust For Life (Hardcore XXX Edit)

In August, Girls released the music video for “Lust For Life”, showing a group hardcore hipsters having fun and hanging out. Basically like a Miley Cyrus video, but hipster-ized.

What most of us didn’t expect coming was a raucnhy, XXX version of the video to come out, with shirtless girls touching each others boobs and guys singing into their boyfriend’s penises. The title “Hardcore XXX” does not match the video content, however. It was merely just a couple seconds of private parts that were shown. Oh, and Michael Jackson was featured in it for half a second.

I’ve put the original video above and the XXX version under the cut, it’s definitely NSFW (not my fault if you get fired, suspended from school, or grounded by your mom): (more…)

_Weezer – Can’t Stop Partying (feat. Lil Wayne)

weezer1 Weezer Cant Stop Partying (feat. Lil Wayne)

Weezer and Weezy, I see the connection. This easily gets the award for most unexpected and surprising collaboration of the year. Rivers Cuomo co-wrote the song with Jermaine Dupri, blending hip-hop and rock…and doing it the right way unlike some artists (Lil Wayne anyone?). Wayne’s verse here is brief and for the most part works well in the context of the song.

Weezer has been famous for its ironic songs, but this elevates it to new levels.
