Confirmed by their label, ‘Congratulations’ is the title of the upcoming, highly anticipated sophomore album by MGMT, NME reports.
That is all that any of us know of the album, other than that it is going to be released early 2010 and that the duo is recording the album in Malibu, where they are surfing.
MGMT have also been performing several new songs at concerts lately, especially the title track “Congratulations”, which is a more slower, and ‘pretty dark’, as Andrew VanWyngarden of MGMT explains. (I don’t think it sounds dark at all!) Listen below and judge for yourself.

this is their THIRD album, not sophmore.
Their first album was released under their old name “The Management”, so they consider Congradulations sophmore album because of that. (:
