The digital-only release Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix (Remix Collection) was released yesterday on the 20th of October. You may recognize many of those contributing remixes of Phoenix’s fabulous 2009 album. Contributors include Animal Collective, Friendly Fires, Passion Pit and Chairlift. Fences is so good that it appears 5 times on the remix album!
Which brings us to YACHT’s remix of “Armistice”. YACHT a.k.a Jona Bechtolt had a hit single with “Psychic City (Voodoo City)” and his latest album See Mystery Lights was well-received. I think of a good remix as one that betters the original, or one that takes it in a different and good direction. I’m still not so sure about this one. What do you think?
