_Natasha Poly for Vogue Russia January 2010

natasha poly january2010 voguerussi Natasha Poly for Vogue Russia January 2010

Eeek! A little bit late, but Natasha Poly is on the cover of the January issue of Vogue Russia. She is working it. I love everything in this cover, from the color scheme, her hair, and even the color of the font ‘VOGUE’.

Why is it that the international covers of Vogue are way better than US Vogue? (Vogue Paris, Vogue Russia, etc.) US Vogue mostly covers just celebrities and yes, it’s a good marketing strategy but even that, all the covers are plain and boring and don’t have an artistic feel to it. The covers are usually filled up by tons of ‘headlines’ as well.

I need to get a copy of this. I won’t be able to read it, but I just need to have this issue on my Coffee table.

Hedi Slimane, one of my favorite photographers today, has made a short film for VMan magazine of a 16 year old classical ballet dancer (Oscar Nilsson) of the Royal Danish Ballet Theater dancing to the beat of drums by some guy in a bear mask.

It’s beautiful and graceful.

_Sky Ferreira x Skeet Skeet – Happy Dre

l 9644af84f22d42d6b853f97d227b9eb2 Sky Ferreira x Skeet Skeet Happy Dre

Sky Ferreira has been on my radar for the past couple weeks, when a buddy of mine first introduced me to her. And wow, she is talented, especially for a 17 year old.

She covered The Beatles‘ “Happiness Is A Warm Gun” a while back, and DJ Skeet Skeet has taken this cover and revamped it over one of the most recognizable beats by Dr. Dre out there.

I hope Sky releases her debut album as soon as possible because I’m craving more and more of her every day.

_Miike Snow – Silvia (Music Video)

The blog is back after a brief hiatus!

Here is the music video to Miike Snow’s “Silvia”. I’m glad they released this as a single, and the video is as beautiful as the song. However, I don’t know how they both relate to each other. There are some breathtaking scenes though.

_Florence + the Machine – Last Christmas

FlorenceXmas 4120 Florence + the Machine Last Christmas

Last week, BBC 1 Radio held a very special Christmas gig with artists like Florence and The Machine and Out Like A Lion performed.

Florence belted out multiple acoustic covers of Rabbit Heart and even the Christmas favorite “Last Christmas”. Her soft, crispy voice flows perfectly with the smooth, breezy guitar. I’m not a big fan of Christmas songs, but I have to say that this is brilliant.

_Vol Du Jour – Short Film by Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel

I am a sucker for vintage Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld, and above is a short film that Karl made for Chanel. The first 40-so seconds seemed really interesting, but after that it was just a drag and boring. I also love black and white films too but this is just really bad.

_Editors – You Don’t Know Love (Music Video)

Indie-brit rockers Editors premiered the new music video to “You Don’t Know Love” which is freakishly cool. The girl uses hair to whip some guy and he has this sort of magnetic power to make her have seizures.
