_Chiddy Bang – Opposite Of Adults (Music Video)

DAMN. I should have listened to Luis last year when he told me to listen to some Chiddy Bang. This is my first listen of this duo and I am hooked! What was wrong with me back then?

Anyways, last year they sampled MGMT’s “Kids” and rapped over it, titling it “Kids” featuring MGMT. Guess they decided to change it and call it “Opposite of Adults”. I hate the video though. But I guess I like really weird, creative things so this video suits the song and the artist’s vision.

_Panda Bear Names 4th Album, ‘Tomboy’

Big news today, Panda Bear from Animal Collective has finally officially named his fourth studio album. It will be called ‘Tomboy’ and they even hope to have it released by September via Paw Tracks.

The live mp3s that leaked a while ago has got me all excited – but September seems way too far away. We all know that we will love it anyways, though.

Here’s one of my favorite Panda Bear songs, “Take Pills”.

_My Gold Mask – Violet Eyes (Music Video)

I’m so excited to blog about this video. It’s by one of my favorite upcoming hot bands, My Gold Mask. I posted about the song “Violet Eyes” back in late November.

“Violet Eyes” is such a great, strong debut single for them. The video is even better, and looks well done. LOVE IT.

iamamiwhoami strikes back again…with a third video titled “9.20.19.13.5.723378″. I wonder if the numbers have any meaning to it at all…

I just have to give a big kudos to the marketer and whoever is behind this because it’s creating such a huge buzz.

UPDATE: Again, thanks to Brad from MuuMuse, I am led to believe that this is Christina Aguilera. Check out some proof here.

_Goldfrapp – Rocket

goldfrapp rock aa Goldfrapp Rocket

Goldfrapp is definitely known for being experimental through their albums and ever since the cover of the new album dropped you could definitely tell that they were going 80′s with their new era.

“Rocket” is everything 80′s. The synth-driven mid-tempo pop song delivers a polished and catchy tune that will get stuck in your heads. It will make you want to get out your brightest and shiniest outfits and jump on the dancefloor.

I’m not too familiar with Goldfrapp but the responses of this song are either that fans love it or hate this new direction. I love it and can’t wait for more. Definitely excited to hear the Christina Aguilera collaboration as well.

_Gorillaz – Stylo (Feat. Mos Def & Bobby Womack)

stylo packshot Gorillaz Stylo (Feat. Mos Def & Bobby Womack)

Many feared that the Gorillaz were done recording new music after the release of their D-Sides album. I am guilty as charged too. But now it seems that they are back, and in full force. They threw together an impressive line up of musical all stars to bring with for the ride such as Snoop Dog, Mos Def and Lou Reed, to name a few. And yes, you read that correctly, Lou Reed, the man behind the Velvet Underground. All these artists will be contributing to their new CD Plastic Beach which will be due out March 8th of this year!

And they didn’t even stop there, they will also be headlining at Coachella. Eeek!! This all made me giddy like a school girl when I found out. It was almost an overload. Although I won’t be able to see them at Coachella since it takes place over a thousand miles from where I live, I’ll be able get a new CD from them in a little over a month. On top of that, a track from the CD leaked recently.

The track is called “Stylo” and isn’t exactly what you’d expect from the Gorillaz. It’s much more electronic/synth based than their previous work. It has a funky bass line and an obscure lead synth riff. Contributing on vocals is Murdoc of course, in addition is Mos Def and Bobby Womack. I must say throwing Bobby Womack in this track was an excellent idea. Gorillaz have a quirky, almost satirical side to their vocals and Bobby’s strange, funkadelic voice works perfectly for the chorus. If you’re a Gorillaz fan or not, you will officially be excited for this new album and all that it has to offer.

I always bring my Polaroid to every single show that I go to, and people around me look at my funny and sometimes say things like “Those still exist?” to me when I use it. I love my Polaroid and when it hits stores I won’t be the only one with my Polaroid.

_David Byrne & Fatboy Slim – Please Don’t (feat. Santigold)

David Byrne & Fatboy Slim Please Dont (feat. Santigold)

Funny – earlier today I was complaining to a friend about how I wanted to listen to some new material from Santigold.

David Byrne and Fatboy Slim are teaming up together to create a concept album about the life of the first Lady of the Phillipines, Imelda Marcos. Titled ‘Here Lies Love’, it’s slated for a February 23rd release via Todomundo/Nonesuch. The first track to be previewed from this collaboration is featuring Santigold singing really high notes over a funky beat.

Some other artists you’ll hear from this album include Florence Welch from Florence + The Machine, St. Vincent, Tori Amos, Roisin Murphy, Sia, Camille and Cyndi Lauper. The album is available for pre-order on David Byrne’s website.
