_iamamiwhoami: 15.6.6.9.3.9.14.1.18.21.13.56155

Another iamamiwhoami video has surfaced, and this time it features a barking dog, bouncing balls, and strawberries that are hanging from a ceiling. And this time she seems to be in a winter climate.

I’m just going to wait until the person steps up and says who they are but for now I’m loving this video, especially the creepy stare at the end.

_Broken Social Scene – World Sick

BSScover Broken Social Scene World Sick

After 5 years of a break, the members of Broken Social Scene have gotten back from their side projects and are now in the process of releasing their next album, which will be released in May. The LP is titled ‘Forgiveness Rock Record’.

A preview song was released and is available to download for free from their website, called “World Sick”. Every second of this 7 minute track is worth the wait. You can even tell by the album cover that this project is going to be big. I can’t wait for more!

_MGMT Reveals Album Art for ‘Congratulations’

MGMT Congratulations MGMT Reveals Album Art for Congratulations

What do you think? It’s a bit wild but a whole lot of fun.

One thing I find interesting about this album is that MGMT said they weren’t going to release any singles from the album so people would listen to the album as a whole instead of listening to their only singles. They also said that they wanted to see which tracks jumped out to the listeners.

One single that I’m already interested in is #8 off the tracklist, titled “Lady Dada’s Nightmare“. Hmmm…

So I’m confused, are they not releasing any singles at all? I hope they eventually do.

_Joe Jonas, Jake Gyllenhaal, RZA, Lil Jon Guest Star in Vampire Weekend’s “Giving Up The Gun” Music Video

Vampire Weekend have been blowing up in both alternative and mainstream media lately. ‘Contra’ was even the 12th #1 independently distributed album in the states, after Radiohead and Pearl Jam.

In the music video for “Giving Up The Gun”, the band headed toward a futuristic minimalistic look with some girl as a tennis player playing against Jake Gyllenhaal and Joe Jonas, and also appearances by RZA and Lil Jon. I didn’t mind the Jake Gyllenhaal cameo, I actually thought that was witty. But Joe Jonas? You’ve got to be kidding me.

Click the above video to go look at the Youtube comments. Joe Jonas fans are DISSING Vampire Weekend and making fun of hipsters. Jonas fans are coming to watch the video, appreciate the fact that he’s in short shorts, and then later diss the song. They even say ‘I love Joe Jonas, but what the hell”, while we’re saying ‘I love Vampire Weekend, but what the hell”.

I guess they tried to collaborate a bit and see what fans think and we’re all agreeing that this wasn’t a good idea. It’s another sign that Vampire Weekend are indeed selling out.

_Rox – My Baby Left Me

l 2e6ceea778654ce593163e244db82289 Rox My Baby Left Me

I remember seeing Rox on the BBC Sound of 2010 list. I didn’t really pay attention to her since I have never heard of her before, while for the rest of the list I have.

The first time listening to her is when PMA posted about her. “My Baby Left Me” is her debut single, who was produced by Al Shux (Jay Z’s & Alicia Key’s “Empire State of Mind”). The song has been around for 2 years and now she’s getting a proper release via Rough Trade on March 15th. The single is posted on her Myspace, which we have to wait to download, but for now we have the demo which is equally as good.

She reminds me a bit of a more funky VV Brown.

Vinyl and Vodka The Magazine: Issue 2

WE DID IT!!!!

We have finally finished the 2nd issue of Vinyl and Vodka Magazine. I’m so happy because the 2 months seemed like forever! I didn’t get much sleep at all and finishing the magazine in time was always on my mind. I intended to get the issue out by the beginning of February before Valentines day (if you click through the magazine you’ll see why) but that didn’t happen, so oh well.

This issue features an interview with HEALTH and articles like The Internet and its Effect on the Music Industry, along with reviews of Tim Burton’s art gallery at MOMA. We also featured 500 Days of Summer and A Single Man.

There are 2 editorials that are in this issue, and thank you SO SO SO SO much to Shaun Scade from Scade Photography for fighting the cold and dealing with us for two days straight, shooting our models.

Again, I hope you guys share it with your friends on Twitter, Facebook, or re-post this and blog about it on your blog. Leave comments as well. This is also a free publication so if you would like to donate money or an article or idea for the next issue, we’d love your help. The Donate button is on the sidebar and my email is on the top of this page if you click “Contact”.

P.S. Be sure to download the Vodkast here and stream it while you’re reading the magazine because it will make the experience so much better!

_Kate Nash – I Just Love You More

Kate Nash I Just Love You More

I’m a fan of Kate Nash. Her debut album was unbelievably witty and sweet, so what’s not to like about her?

Her upcoming album is in the works, and her eager self gave us a preview of what to expect. “I Just Love You More” is a fun, girl-rock song. I don’t want to state the obvious and repeat what the blogs have been saying, but she’s totally pulling a Karen O in this one! And although I like it, it just doesn’t suit her. Maybe it’ll be an interlude in the album?

The lyrics aren’t hard to learn. ‘I Just Love You More’ are the only lyrics, accomponied by yelps, and screams. I can even hear a Yoko Ono reference in this too.

On another note, Kate wants you to submit a short letter to her about your first love experience, or the first time you saw Robert Pattison on screen. She’ll hand pick all of them to be published in her album booklet. More info here.
