_Tesla Boy – “Liberating Soul”

I haven’t been too up-to-date with basically everything lately, but in the middle of my hectic life I discovered this interesting electro Russian indie-pop outfit. Tesla Boy’s synth pop sounds like the 80′s have arisen. The group formed in 2008, and they’ve recently released their album titled ‘Modern Thrills’ via Mullet Records.

“Liberating Soul” is just one of the many funky tracks on the album. It might lean towards the 80′s but barely enough to just brush it. The 6 minute track is nothing short of an enjoyable listen. Anton Sevidov’s structured vocals connect charmingly with the groovy background track. Definitely deserves a listen, if not, two.

_Deerhunter – “Helicopter” (Diplo & Lunice Remix) (Music Video)

Lunice and Diplo (who is the cousin of Bradford from Deerhunter) remixed Deerhunter’s “Helicopter” earlier this month. Now they have released the promo video for it, using clips from some video called Slow Moscow a guy put up on Youtube (see it here)

_Rihanna – “What’s My Name” (feat. Drake)

Rihanna+PNG Rihanna Whats My Name (feat. Drake)

This new Rihanna hype that I’m getting is amazing…if you know me you know I’ve been listening to her 2 new tracks (“Only Girl”, “Who’s That Chick”) on repeat daily. Her 2nd single from Loud is called “What’s My Name” and features Drake. I hated it when I first got my hands on it on Friday, but listening to it again, I think it’s pretty good.

_Shakira – “Islands” (The xx Cover)

shakira1 Shakira Islands (The xx Cover)

Shakirrrrra. I remember a couple months ago when a leaked 30 second clip of The xx’s “Islands” surfaced on the internet, and most of the responses were negative. Who knew if she was going to include it in her next album (looks like it’s going to now), but she performed it at the Glastonbury festival.

Add in her signature dance beats and you get a studio version of Shakira’s take on one of the freshest acts in the music industry. Some say and are complaining that this isn’t exactly what The xx sounds like…but aren’t covers supposed to be the artist’s interpretation of a song?

_Rihanna – Only Girl (In The World) (Music Video)

HOT fresh from the oven. Rihanna’s tasty techno track (see what I did there?) “Only Girl (in the World)” finally got a video, and it’s delicious. I’m not gonna lie, I hated her last album Hard but I’m loving this new direction she’s going for. Her voice suits techno/electro perfectly. “Who’s That Chick” is my favorite so far from what we’ve heard, and hopefully it’ll be confirmed on the album.

_La Roux – “In For The Kill” (Remix feat. Kanye West) & Music Video

2763 La Roux In For The Kill (Remix feat. Kanye West) & Music Video

Kanye West spins up La Roux’s In For The Kill” by adding his own verse and taking over the song by adding some extra (although unnecessary) beats behind the music. I thought I really liked it at first until I read all of the crucial comments over at EW , but that won’t change my opinion. What makes his verse really bad though was in the first couple of his lines he rhymed ‘collar’ with ‘mmMnm…haaaahahaheha’. What is that? What is mumbling and then laughing supposed to mean?

Anyways, the music video for the same song was just released last week. After watching this I was left wondering why is it now that “In For The Kill“  is just getting a video…wasn’t it released way back in early ’09? I also don’t really get the point of the video, why is the setting in a hotel? I ask way too many questions.

_Die Antwoord – “Evil Boy” (Music Video)

As soon as I hit play on this video, I knew I was in for something exciting from Die Antwoord. The first time watching this video for me was also the first time listening to “Evil Boy” for me as well. I was hoping for excitement – and it was nothing short of it. I was also glad to learn that “Evil Boy” would be a collaboration with Diplo, which makes it so much better.

The video is very graphic – nipple-less boobs, tons of penis shaped things, so this is definitely NSFW. By the way, who’s that black dude?
