_Lykke Li – “Get Some”

Lykke+Li+LITTLE+BIT Lykke Li Get Some

There are no words of how much I adore Lykke Li. To be frank, I only realized my love for her when one of her songs were playing in H&M a couple days ago. Everything about her is so aesthetically pleasing; her accent, style (music and fashion wise), and her beauty cannot fail to impress me.

Taken all of what I said, I’m not convinced on her new single “Get Some”. It’s a track that I imagine I would only like being sung on broadway. “Get Some” is mostly jazzy, part burlesque, and quite theatrical. Two references pop in my mind as a listen: the voice of Nelly Furtado and the style of Bjork. Never would I have ever imagined the two artists being mashed into one, but it makes complete sense to me. We miss Li’s signature Swedish accent and part of her style in “Get Some”, but as a standalone track, it’s definitely catchy.

_Patrick Wolf – “Time of My Life”

Patrick+Wolf Patrick Wolf Time of My Life

I’ve always considered Patrick Wolf a great, talented musician. He covers a wide range of genres and he’s got a great ear for incorporating classical instruments with electro songs. That’s why I was so excited to finally listen to his first single in a year, called “Time of My Life“. It’s going to be released from his fifth studio album, formerly called ‘The Conqueror’. The single release date is next month, but Patrick gave us a teaser lyric-video preview (that you may or may not download below…) which he uploaded on Youtube. Stream the HQ:

This might be one of my favorite tracks by him. I’m so excited to hear the remixes!

_The Pains of Being Pure at Heart – “”Heart In Your Heartbreak”

The Pains of Being Pure at Heart are back with new material, giving us a sneak peek of what’s to come in the next year. “Heart In Your Heartbreak” (so many HEARTS!) is definitely what you would expect Pains to sound like – airy, dreamy, synth pop. What’s different is that this time they sound more confident – they’ve developed a signature sound and they’re playing around with it. There’s a nice little guitar jangle near the middle of the track.
