M.I.A. is ending this year off with a mixtape called “Vicki Leekx”, which features outtakes and clips off of her past songs and unreleased material. If you like M.I.A. and got nothing to do on New Years Eve, you will love this. If you don’t like her then this will make your head explode. Download the Vicki Leekx mixtape here. And don’t mind that god awful cover.

_The Video for Kanye West’s “Monster” has leaked

Kanye West’s “Monster” (featuring Rick Ross, Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj, and Bon Iver) has probably got to be my favorite song on his new release, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. The unfinished accompanying video for it has found its way online, and I’ve got to say it’s pretty amazing. The sound quality and random Getty watermarks in the video ruin it but other than that it portrays what the song is about: Monsters, bloodsuckers, and vampires. Of course, Nicki Minaj’s part was the most interesting.

The actual version will probably be around the same thing but I still can’t wait to see it in good quality.

_Sam Sparro – “You’s A Nasty”

Sam+Sparro+2010 Sam Sparro Yous A Nasty

Sam Sparro is traveling us back in time with his new 90′s diva-house sound. “You’s A Nasty” is a b-side off of his free Pink Cloud EP which you can download off of his website here. I was more of a fan of his “Black and Gold” days, but this is much better than “Pink Cloud”. I’m also pretty sure that the vocals in this track are Sam’s, but elevated to a higher pitch to sound like a woman.

_jj – “Let Them” (Music Video)

yours0158 from Sebastian Järnerot on Vimeo.

jj’s been doing quite well lately, their most recent mixtape ‘Kills‘ was released last week for free, and was much of a hit in the blogmosphere. (You can download that here) Just right before the year ended, they released a video to “Let Them“, which we all have heard of before. The video is shot very precisely, with clean cuts throughout. The only one that thiat distracts me is Elin’s exaggerated back-combed hair. In some parts she even reminds me of Kesha, no?

_M.I.A. – “It Takes a Muscle” (Pearson Sound Refix)

MIA+3 M.I.A. It Takes a Muscle (Pearson Sound Refix)

I wouldn’t have guessed the play count on M.I.A.’s album Maya would be around 50 in my iTunes when it first got released. In fact, I thought the album was horrible. I misjudged myself because the album is like a fine wine; it gets better with time.

“It Takes A Muscle” has been remixed, I mean refixed by Pearson Sound. I never even knew that term existed until this track. No traces of the original are left behind other than clips of her voice, making the whole song sound like some extraterrestrial tribal chant.

Listen to it below and download it here, Soundcloud won’t let me upload this track.

_Kanye West – “Christmas In Harlem” (feat. CyHi Da Prynce & Teyana Taylor)

Jasper 057 Kanye West Christmas In Harlem (feat. CyHi Da Prynce & Teyana Taylor)

Kanye West is on a roll lately. His album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy had a lot of praise, especially from his 10/10 rating from Pitchfork. I, personally, am not a huge fan of Kanye but the album was definitely great. To keep this high, he released a Christmas themed song called “Christmas In Harlem” last week featuring Cam’ron, Jim Jones, CyHi Da Prynce, Pusha T, Big Sean, Teyana Taylor, Big Sean & Musiq Soulchild. The reason why I never posted this earlier was because I thought the 7 minute track was way too long, until I recently found a version that was 2 minutes shorter with just CyHi da Prynce and Teyana Taylor. I can finally enjoy this song without worrying it dragging too long.

_La Femme – “La Femme Ressort”

21A 00006 La Femme La Femme Ressort

Remember when I introduced you to La Femme? Well, a reader named Sergio commented on that post and directed me to go here to download their compilation of 3 tracks, filed under beko_36. (You’ll figure out what to do when you go there) Since my last post they’ve also released an EP which you can download here.

I’ve been listening to “La Femme Ressort” over and over again ever since I downloaded the compilation. It’s an eerie, crawly track with an underlining, repetitive string that remains throughout the entire song. Also accompanying the tune are equally haunting vocals that chant some ritual sounding lines in French. This kind of makes sense when I figured the track titled translated to “The Woman Arises”.

P.S…if you like this track, check out the other version of this song at their Bandcamp.

_Beach House – “I Do Not Care For The Winter Sun”

Beach+House+bh Beach House I Do Not Care For The Winter Sun

The holidays is a time of giving, and that is exactly what Beach House is doing. They’re giving away a free holiday and winter themed song just in time for Christmas, called “I Do Not Care For The Winter Sun”. I don’t know if this is to support or oppose the winter (which is silly considering this is a holiday song), but I don’t care for the winter sun as well – the sun sets at 3pm now!

You can download it over at their website here or below.
