_The Vaccines – “Post Break Up Sex” (Music Video)

I’ve been digging “Post Break Up Sex” by The Vaccines, a rising band from London that’s recently caught the attention of my ears. So far what I have heard sounds good, they deserve the hype. I’m excited for their to-be-announced debut album. Above is the video to “Post Break Up Sex”.

_The Rural Alberta Advantage – “Stamp”

RAA The Rural Alberta Advantage Stamp

The thing that first attracted me to The Rural Alberta Advantage is that they were almost relatable – they were born and raised in Alberta and sung about their childhoods. And even though we probably had the opposite childhoods – they were rural, I’m a true city boy – and share completely different interests, it’s nice to see a band whom roots sprout from Alberta be successful.

Their first single from the long awaited sophomore album ‘Departing’ is called “Stamp”, a fast paced, big song. You can tell they’ve expanded and tried to reach past their limits. Another noticable change for me as well was that they sound much more clearer, more louder, more vibrant.

_Vampire Weekend – “Fight For This Love” (Cheryl Cole Cover)

vw Vampire Weekend Fight For This Love (Cheryl Cole Cover)

When Vampire Weekend covers a song, you know that it’s most likely going to be good. They definitely like to take risks, that’s for sure. They took a huge leap for their Radio 1 Live Lounge performance, covering UK British pop Cheryl Cole’s 2009 single “Fight For This Love”. I must admit that I’ve never heard of this song until now. I’ve heard of her name tons before, but I never put a face or voice to her name. It’s not just me though, Ezra thought the same:

“One day we were in the car driving to the airport and we heard a song that reminded us of K-Ci & JoJo’s ‘All My Life’, which is a very important song for people our age. We were like, ‘This song is awesome.’ Then we saw her on tabloids. Who knew she was famous?”

_Sky Ferreira – “Obsession” (Sam Sparro & Golden Touch Mix)

Sky Ferreira’s “Obsession” was not my favorite out of the tracks she’s previously released, but Sam Sparro and Golden Touch made me consider it with their remix of the track. I personally love the little ‘dance’ break around 2:15. The remixes are going to be released on New Years day, 10 days before her album release.

_CREEP – “Days”

In theory, the genre ‘witch house” sounds a bit…odd.  In reality, listening to witch house is perfection. To give you a thought, it basically sounds like The xx mixed with even darker, more ambitious sounds, a touch of electro and creepy tones. This is exactly what CREEP‘s debut single “Days” sounds like. In fact, they even brought in Romy Madley-Croft from The xx to fill in the vocals. Her calm, soothing voice balances well with the darker composition of the track.

_Basement Jaxx – “Dracula”

“Dracula” is a new single from the house electro duo Basement Jaxx. The vampire trend is getting really stupid and so tiring that I judged this track by its title and pushed it aside for a couple days before finally listening to it. Boy was I wrong. This hypnotizing, thrilling song makes your ears feel like they are orgasming (not even a word…but it makes sense). The bass is intense, and the beats are very industrial and dark. When it’s on repeat I literally feel high on another world.

_Ellie Goulding – “Only Girl” (Rihanna Cover)

ZYczN Ellie Goulding Only Girl (Rihanna Cover)

Ellie Goulding attempts at covering Rihanna’s smash dance pop hit “Only Girl” during Live Lounge at Radio 1, and it is without a doubt, splendid. The heavy bass and electro dance beats are stripped away, leaving only a very raw Ellie Goulding accented voice with acoustic instruments and very talented violin players. I can only say I love this song and Ellie so much more.

_Aeroplane vs Friendly Fires vs Flight Facilities – “I Crave Paris”

Every once in a while I’ll be posting random pictures like fashion editorials, pictures I’ve taken, or pictures that I think are cool because there’s no image that really relates to the post, like this. Above is a picture I took of my friend Jessica.

I’ve been digging Flight Facilities for a while now, and their song “Crave You” is so dauntingly beautiful. Gisele’s voice is so fragile yet so attention-grabbing. Just a couple of weeks ago I came across this amazing mash-up by Aeroplanes (of course) of “Crave You” and another favorite of mine, “Paris” by Friendly Fires. (Both bands’ acronyms are FF) Everything just makes sense in this remix, you’ll understand once you listen to it:
