The fashionable, triangle obsessed, and science geek duo YACHT is back with their follow up album to their 2009 release See Mystery Lights. The first single from Shanri-La is “Dystopia” (The World is on Fire) which was apparently written after reading some post-apocalyptic science fiction. I definitely wasn’t expecting something like this from them, but it turned out amazing. They’re giving a free download below, now I hope they release a clean version so I can play this at work.

_Justice – “Civilization”

l Justice Civilization

After weeks of people leaking fake Justice demos and teasing us with clips of the song taken from the Adidas commercial, Justice has finally premiered their single “Civilization” on French radio and iTunes. It definitely doesn’t live up to my expectations from them. Something just feels a bit off about the track. This sounds like a demo; the flow of the track is interrupted by its choppiness. The only thing I like is the chorus.

Cut Copy Need You Now Cut Copy – “Need You Now” (Architecture in Helsinki Version)

I’m not too familiar with Architecture in Helsinki, but I think I should be. The Australian band remixed Cut Copy’sNeed You Now“, stripping behind its fast paced synths and dance elements and leaving behind a soothing, slowed down version. Look out for more of interpretations of their Zonoscope opening track.

_Friendly Fires – “Live Those Days Tonight”

Friendly Fires Live Those Days Tonight Friendly Fires Live Those Days Tonight

There’s nothing from Friendly Fires that I even dislike a bit, and that seems to be the case for “Live Those Days Tonight”. The first single from their sophomore LP Pala is a vibrant and dancy club track as the cover suggests, but remaining subtle and genuine at the same time. Pala is out on May 16th, and I’m so looking forward to it.

_TV On The Radio – “Will Do” (Music Video)

Here is the robotic, trippy video to TV On The Radio’sWill Do“. I didn’t really understand what the video was about until I was reading some of the Youtube comments. One viewer obvserved the conceptual meaning of the video:

“Being high is like having a robotic outfit that makes everything look and feel better. That’s why the video’s so trippy and why there’s smoke every scene they put the outfit on.”

_Cults – “You Know What I Mean”

968269506 PgQcU L Cults You Know What I Mean

Cults quickly gained attention and hype after their demos surfaced the internet last year. This earned them an audience and a hefty contract with Columbia Records, which was a bit unusual due to the fact that only a couple of demos were released. That’s the power of bloggers these days though.

“You Know What I Mean” is a first taste from their May 30th release. The dream-poppers seem to be staying true to their signature sound, so fans of the genre will definitely enjoy this track.

_D/R/U/G/S – “Love/Lust”

“Love/Lust” is the first track that I’ve heard from D/R/U/G/S ever since I heard their remix of Egyptian Hip Hop’s “Rad Pitt”, and before then I didn’t know of them at all. I still don’t because they seem to be pretty anonymous. This track belongs in their 3 song EP, a slightly entrancing and impressive debut.

“Velodrome I” is a track that they describe as cinematic, while the sequel “Velodrome II” is just a mash-up of everything that they’ve done; subgenre dance music labels ignored. D/R/U/G/S prove that they are capable enough of having their music used for fashion films or creating a wonderful movie soundtrack. Check out the two Velodrome tracks here.
