_Ellie Goulding – “Heartbeats” (The Knife Cover)

l Ellie Goulding Heartbeats (The Knife Cover)Ellie Goulding covers are my favorite – I’d rather prefer listening to her covers than her original songs. She’s covered several artists like Sam Sparro, Rihanna, and Bon Iver. Her most recent was Jose Gonzalez’s rendition of “Heartbeats” by The Knife. Unlike her other covers, she blatantly copies his exact version. It’s definitely not the most creative, but lovely nonetheless.

_Thom Yorke x Burial x Four Tet – “Ego” & “Mirror”

thom Thom Yorke x Burial x Four Tet Ego & Mirror

This morning I read news of Thom Yorke’s new limited edition single vinyl collaboration with Burial and Four Tet, but I didn’t expect it to be premiered so early. The A side “Ego” was played on Rinse FM after the news surfaced, with the flipside “Mirror” following it after. The bass on both of these tracks is just ridiculously sexy and hypnotizing. The single is being released March 21st, but the limited editions of 300 copies have already been fully pre-ordered.

_The Kills – “DNA”

The+Kills+12334 The Kills DNAThe Kills are giving away their 2nd single “DNA”, leading up with their sophomore album Blood Pressures being released on April 5th. “DNA” is a gritty punk-rock track with a bit of a blues influence, basically what you can expect from them. Listen to it below and download it on their site here.

_Sondre Lerche – “Domino”

Joseph+%2B+Jaime+Sondre+Lerche+1 Sondre Lerche Domino

The first taste we get to listen to from Sondre Lerche’s self-titled album is called “Domino“, a rawer, more heartfelt approach than his usual work. Almost every track from his 2009 release Heartbeat Radio was instant love, but “Domino” seems just mediocre. It’s definitely a track that will grow on you the more you listen to it.

_Fever Ray – “The Wolf”

Fever+Ray Fever Ray The Wolf

The only possible good thing that might come out of the Leo DiCaprio produced film ‘Red Riding Hood’ is an original Fever Ray track called “The Wolf“, recorded exclusively for the movie’s soundtrack. The soundtrack just came out today, so give it a listen below. The movie is going to theaters this Friday.

_jj – “The End”

jj+PNG jj The End

jj posted a brand new untitled song on their blog, which gorilla vs.bear is calling “The End.” This is appropriate considering they chant these words throughout the whole song.   Compared to their other songs, “The End” is more sinister in its sound with airy accents that include Elin Kastlander’s vocals.

Listen and download to the track at gvsb, Soundcloud is blocking me from uploading the track.

_of Montreal – “Black Lion Massacre”

I love shock art. Something is very interesting about art that is meant to grab your attention, and that’s what of Montreal has just done with their new song “Black Lion Massacre”, taken from their upcoming EP The Controller Sphere.

“Black Lion Massacre” is shocking simply because it is unlike anything they have ever done. It seems as though they might be heading into a more avant-garde and experimental direction with this EP (it seems as though the person in the video is schizophrenic). The instrumental, mysterious track will leave you either wondering if your speakers have blasted or thinking “what the fuck?” (or both of the two). Either way, I think that most people will either love or hate this. I will wait until another song comes out before I judge this project.

_Hercules and Love Affair – “Shelter” (The xx cover)

EPHELIDE HERCULES+AND+LOVE+AFFAIR Hercules And Love Affair 02 Hercules and Love Affair – Shelter (The xx cover)

Hercules and Love Affair have covered The xx’s “Shelter” as a b-side to their current single, “Painted Eyes”. I always find it even more interesting when artists cover The xx, since their sound can be interpreted and can be versatile in so many different ways. Somehow this version just reminds me of Beth Ditto covering it, it’s a very monotone dance version of the song.
