_Friendly Fires – “The Edge of Glory” (Lady Gaga Cover)

friendly fires Friendly Fires The Edge of Glory (Lady Gaga Cover)

I’m a major Gaga stan, and also a huge Friendly Fires fan. The result of Friendly Fires covering Lady Gaga’s “The Edge of Glory” on BBC’s Live Lounge is a starry and wonderful cover. People who never really liked the original are bound to like this. “The Edge of Glory” is definitely one of her more universal and cover-able tracks, and it makes total sense that they have decided to cover it.

_Patrick Wolf – “Time Of My Life” (Hurts Remix)

Everything about the HURTS remix of Patrick Wolf’s “Time of My Life” seems so perfect – it’s a remix meant to be. The original was already great, but this remix provides a more dramatic side of the track. Just like their remix of Lady Gaga’s “Judas”, HURTS injected a lot of more dramatic elements to make the song seem darker and more mysterious, like the use of orchestral instruments.

_The Drums – “Money”

The Drums Money1 The Drums Money

“Money” is the newest material to come from the Drums ever since their debut album, which I still constantly play. The Drums makes the perfect summer music, and “Money” is no exception. It’s a great blend of 80s pop and surf rock.

_Calvin Harris – “Feel So Close”

I must admit I am an avid Calvin Harris fan. When his last album Ready for the Weekend dropped, I was unimpressed but my opinion quickly changes, and to put it the least it’s a great dance album. We’ve already heard 2 new Calvin Harris tracks this year, but “Feel So Close” makes me most certain about his next album. It’s definitely one of his best catchy tunes, and everything from his vocals, the drop, back-up singer makes this feel-good track so perfect. All it’s missing is a big fat bass but that’s probably missing from the radio rip. Damn, those Scottish boys.

_The Vaccines – “Norgaard” (Music Video)

The Vaccines debut, What Did You Expect From The Vaccines? is nothing short of amazing. The super short “Norgaard” scored a fun video, showing all the bandmates drooling over the All-American girl. But wait, she’s 17. Jailbait?

_RISING: Yoyo Eskimo – “Into The Night” & “All I Need”

YO 04b RISING: Yoyo Eskimo Into The Night & All I Need

Yoyo Eskimo is a quadruple-pieced band hailing from London, with only a couple of songs having been released, including their first single “Into The Night”. The freshly joined group bounded at the beginning of this year, and so far their songs are pretty impressive for a new band. If you listen to these next indie-tronic-pop tracks, “Into The Night” and “All I Need”, you can hear an already distinct sound and image they are going for, with modern influences such as Hot Chip and Foals threaded within the tunes.
