_remix: Zebra Katz x Dj Sliink – “Ima Read” feat. Njena Reddd Foxxx

For the past 3 or so weeks I’ve been trying to find out what remix of “Ima Read” Rick Owens used for his Fall 12 show which exposed Zebra Katz to the fashion conscious public. Turns out it’s DJ Sliink who remixed and cut it up to an infectious dance tune. It isn’t a complete makeover, but a few extra beats can take this minimal track a long way.

_Washed Out – Flower Anthem

Washed Out stopped by Daytrotter for a live session and ended up collaborating with artist Karina Eibatova for ‘Flower Anthem‘, a beautiful video piece to three of Washed Out’s songs – “Amor Fati”, “Feel It All Around” and “You’ll See It”. Curious to know how she fit all those flowers in her mouth.

_Beach House – “Myth”

I’m not the biggest fan of Beach House. Not as much as before, at least. I went through a huge phase where all I listened to was Beach House for a month and I think I just got tired of them. Welllllll, they’ve released a new song called “Myth” last night and it’s a bit too early to tell but I think it’s one of my favorite tracks by them. Everyone else seems to think so too.

Their next album ‘Bloom’ is set to be released on May 15th. Download the mp3 for free:

_Grimes – “Nightmusic” (feat. Majical Cloudz)

For some reason, blogging less lately has given me more time to listen to more and appreciate amazing music. I feel like I’ve been ‘hogging’ all the good music from my readers, but I’ve just been lazy. My favorite new artist/goddess for the past couple months has been Grimes, and if you’ve been following my Last.fm you can tell I’ve been listening to all 3 of her albums non-stop, especially her newest debut ‘Visions’.

My favorite track from ‘Visions’ is “Nightmusic“, featuring her friends Majical Cloudz. I first heard of this song in the beginning of December when she played it for Yours Truly. I loved it so much I ripped it and listened to it multiple times everyday until the album leaked. The studio version sounds almost the same as the live one.

‘Visions’ was released yesterday. EVERYONE download it, this is pure pop perfection.

_Crystal Castles x HEALTH – “Suffocation” (& Music Video)

It’s been a couple years since I’ve heard of any new releases from Crystal Castles. Yesterday, Crystal Castles released their new music video for “Suffocation”, and their friends HEALTH gave the song a proper remix. It’s darker, gothier, sexier. Download it:

_Kavinsky – “Roadgame”

If Kavinsky’s “Nightcall” is the soundtrack of a sexy late night stroll with Ryan Gosling, then “Roadgame” may be the soundtrack to one of the many car chases and up-beat drama in Drive. This track is included in the DVD release of the movie and in Kavinsky’s upcoming release.

If you haven’t seen the neo-noir art house movie yet, I highly recommend it. I’ve only watched it once and need to watch it again, and I’m usually not the type of guy that likes to re-watch movies unless they are great.

_Portico Quartet – “Steepless” (Dogtanion remix)

A friend of mine posted Dogtanion’s remix of “Steepless” by Portico Quartet on facebook, both artists unknown to me. Being hungover and bored on a Saturday, I proceeded to listen to it, and I’m glad I did. The original is hauntingly beautiful as well.
