You know, when you almost can’t even tell that she’s singing about late night sex and Patron on ice! I’m not the biggest fan of melodramatic, fashion-centered, “rich girl’s world” kind of television shows, but perhaps you caught this marvellous cover during an episode of Gossip Girl? If you didn’t, then I suggest you take a piece of friendly advice and give it a chance because this cover is awesome.

Anya Marina’s take on T.I.’s “Whatever You Like” is like a refreshing cup of tea on a cold night compared to the original make-you-wanna-dance-anywhere-you-can version. Anya Marina’s 2005 album Miss Halfway, and her 2009 debut Slow & Steady Seduction: Phase II have led her on to bigger and better things…television series soundtrack appearances on Grey’s Anatomy an How I Met Your Mother for starters, and even BIGGER things like this year’s Twilight Saga’s anticipated New Moon OST with her track Satellite Heart. If you aren’t a vampire lover, or a thirteen year old girl, then maybe you’ll like this song much better.

When you, floating along through your day to day mortal being suddenly walk straight into a trap that any catchy song has so carefully placed for you, it seems like all in life is nothing compared to the wise lyrics or peppy beat of this all consuming tune. This tune, this anthem that has completely stolen your heart and thoughts and kept them for itself to selfishly goad and claim for its own.

This happens often. And this my friends, is going to happen to you. “When You Walk In The Room” is the newest release from Guillemots founding member Fyfe Dangerfield‘s highly anticipated album Fly Yellow Moon, and this track is truly an earworm at it’s best. The instant it starts you feel slightly guilty for somehow not knowing the words to do it justice by singing along. Don’t worry though, with a couple listens you’ll be belting “I want you endlessly” just as loud as he is.

So give this song a listen, in fact, give it a few. Chew it over… think about it a little bit, and admire the truly candid way it captures an intrinsic feeling that you yourself can give meaning to. Also, think about picking up Fly Yellow Moon when it debuts this coming January. I smell a New Year’s resolution coming to fruition?
