_She & Him for ION Magazine

ION magazine is a Vancouver-based magazine, and probably one of my favorite Canadian ones. Every issue they feature artists and bands we love on the cover, and this time they got the beautiful pair, She & Him. Photography was taken by Jeremy Williams.

What is the best/most difficult part about working with each other?
MW: Well the heart of the record is the songs. The songs are incredible and the singing is incredible. As a producer, it makes life very easy when you’re working with a remarkable ingredient.
ZD: The best thing about working with Matt is that we always have fun in the studio because Matt is a very intuitive artist who always takes advantage of the present moment while recording. It never feels overly “precious” and it is always fun.

Do you drink or smoke before a show or recording? If so, is it whiskey? Do you get that authentic Sixties country sound or mood?
ZD: I don’t drink or smoke, ever, actually. I really don’t believe that drinking and smoking is the magic behind old recordings. It would be much more apt to blame the microphones.

_Natasha Poly for Vogue Russia January 2010

Eeek! A little bit late, but Natasha Poly is on the cover of the January issue of Vogue Russia. She is working it. I love everything in this cover, from the color scheme, her hair, and even the color of the font ‘VOGUE’.

Why is it that the international covers of Vogue are way better than US Vogue? (Vogue Paris, Vogue Russia, etc.) US Vogue mostly covers just celebrities and yes, it’s a good marketing strategy but even that, all the covers are plain and boring and don’t have an artistic feel to it. The covers are usually filled up by tons of ‘headlines’ as well.

I need to get a copy of this. I won’t be able to read it, but I just need to have this issue on my Coffee table.

_Lara Stone Covers LOVE Magazine

A naked, airbrushed Lara Stone covers the 3rd issue of my favorite British fashion magazine, LOVE. I wouldn’t say that this is NSFW because her nipples are airbrushed and covered…

Anyways, I’m glad that she shows a strong pose on this magazine unlike the zombie looking models on covers (even though I love them).

_Evolution of the Hipster, 2000-2009

Paste magazine has photographed and basically tracked down the hipster trends of the decade. It’s pretty funny but I think that the 2009 description wasn’t nearly as accurate. What do you think?
