_The White Stripes Break Up

This is a sad day for all White Stripes fans, as the band has decided to break up after 13 years of making amazing music. The above image is a letter to the fans when you go visit their band website.

“The White Stripes do not belong to Meg and Jack anymore. The White Stripes belong
to you now and you can do with it whatever you want. The beauty of art and music is
that it can last forever if people want it to. Thank you for sharing this experience. Your

I must admit, I was never a huge fan of them but I did enjoy their music and their style.

_Help Me Win an MTV Reality Show!

Hey guys!

My friends and I are auditioning for an MTV reality show and we desperately need your help. Most of you know that I’m 16 and I’m working hard to be as successful as I can be. Once I heard about this MTV casting call auditions, I knew I was perfect for it. I’ve been actually thinking about wanting a reality show for the past couple of months, not gonna lie.

So I set up my camera and started filming almost EVERYTHING that happened in 5 days. School, parties, fights, and love. None of it is fake or acting. It took me 2 whole days to edit it (one day to try to figure out how to use the editing program). It would have been way faster if my computer wasn’t so freaking slow.

The contest ends on Sunday, the 27th of June. How you guys come in and help me is simple. _Strangers in Stereo, Strangers No More

I am honored to say that I am a part of a new music collective blog group called Strangers in Stereo. Featuring 20 of the best music blogs out there, Strangers in Stereo is the next big thing to happen. Behind the scenes of this great project is Will Hines, who started the group in the first place. Veronica from Cream Team also plays a big role, and she is the Editor in Chief of this project.

A couple weeks ago during SXSW they hosted a gigantic party that I blogged about. My Gold Mask, Chiddy Bang, and The Hood Internet were some of the many acts that played during the event. Read more about it on SiS here.

Lastly, they got Immuzikation to mash up an exclusive remix of 20 of all of our favorite songs. Each blog got to choose a song to mix into this and during the time one of my favorite songs was “Music For Men” by Gossip. Listen to it here and download below:

_M.I.A. vs Vampire Weekend – “Giving up the Sunshowers” (The Hood Internet Mashup)

The Hood Internet made a mashup of our favorite songs, M.I.A.’s “Sunshowers” from ‘Arular’ and Vampire Weekend’s “Giving up the Gun“. The mashup flows perfectly, and even Rostam from Vampire Weekend admits that it’s the ‘best mashup I’ll ever hear in my life’.

I wish they added in Ezra’s singing though, it would’ve sounded better. But this is already good enough. Two thumbs up, The Hood Internet!

In M.I.A. news, apparently she’s banned from leaving the U.S. and her family is banned from going to the U.S. What did she do and why can’t she visit her family? I find this odd. From her Twitter:

_R.I.P. Alexander McQueen

At age 40, Alexander McQueen has influenced the fashion world throughout his lifetime. He was an innovative fashion designer, who wasn’t afraid of taking risks. When I found out that he has taken his life earlier this morning, I was devastated. He was one of the biggest designers that inspired me the most these past years. His crazy designs and artistic innovations are what made him successful.

I don’t think I’ve ever felt so sad about a death of a famous person. Michael Jackson’s death was expected anytime, but McQueen’s was most shocking. Last season his Spring collection was one of the most talked and fantisized about, and the famous shoes and dresses have been spotted in most fashion magazines and a couple of celebrities.

I will truly, truly miss Alexander. Although there will be someone who will take over the company, the vision won’t be the same anymore without him. His McQ collection at Milk Studios in New York has been canceled, but I wonder if it’s ever going to be showed. There has been a McQ jacket and pair of pants that I’ve been eyeing lately, and I could afford it if I saved up enough. I think I’ll get it in memory of Alexander McQueen.

_Panda Bear Names 4th Album, ‘Tomboy’

Big news today, Panda Bear from Animal Collective has finally officially named his fourth studio album. It will be called ‘Tomboy’ and they even hope to have it released by September via Paw Tracks.

The live mp3s that leaked a while ago has got me all excited – but September seems way too far away. We all know that we will love it anyways, though.
