Foals – Spanish Sahara
photo taken from Brothersport
I haven’t heard from Foals for a while. They seem to have disappeared to me ever since the release of their 2008 release, ‘Antidotes’. Even that LP has seemed to have vanished from my iTunes mysterically.
“Spanish Sahara” is the first to be released from their sophomore album, ‘Total Life Forever’ planned for a May 10th release. Recorded in Gothenburg, Sweden, this is the promo single for the LP. “Spanish Sahara” is a chilling, haunting song that sits just around 7 minutes without getting annoying, and in fact, you just want more. The electronic noise loop that occurs throughout the whole song just dances its way through your head, hypnotizing you.
The buildup 4 minutes in has got to be one of the most orgasmic build-ups ever. Yes – this song is just a 7 minute orgasm for the ears – which is why I was shocked that this is the promo single. And if this is just a promo, I wonder what the actual single will sound like? I CANNOT wait!

iamamiwhoami – 23.5.12.3.15.13.5-8.15.13.5.3383
iamamiwhoami strikes back again with another video that is titled ‘23.5.12.3.15.13.5-8.15.13.5.3383‘, which means ‘W.E.L.C.O.M.E-H.O.M.E.3383′ if you use the number-letter conversion.
This one is basically a sequel to the previous one, and it shows us this girl in her cabin. I find the part where she is just sitting there with strawberries around her head staring into the camera so creepy, but I love it! I’m sure we will find out who she is pretty soon.
Stream Gorillaz’ ‘Plastic Beach’

You can stream the whole Gorillaz album ‘Plastic Beach’ in its entirety here. What do you think? I’m listening to it now and so far I’m loving it.
Jonathan Waiter + See Like Me No. 4
My friend Trey Taylor from See Like Me teamed up with Jonathan Waiter, a photographer in New York City and together they made a short video clip, shooting twins Aida and Ieva. I thought this video was rad which is why I brought it up.
M.I.A. vs Vampire Weekend – “Giving up the Sunshowers” (The Hood Internet Mashup)

The Hood Internet made a mashup of our favorite songs, M.I.A.’s “Sunshowers” from ‘Arular’ and Vampire Weekend’s “Giving up the Gun“. The mashup flows perfectly, and even Rostam from Vampire Weekend admits that it’s the ‘best mashup I’ll ever hear in my life’.
I wish they added in Ezra’s singing though, it would’ve sounded better. But this is already good enough. Two thumbs up, The Hood Internet!

In M.I.A. news, apparently she’s banned from leaving the U.S. and her family is banned from going to the U.S. What did she do and why can’t she visit her family? I find this odd. From her Twitter:
“BANNED FROM LEAVING THE U.S, FAMILY BANNED FROM COMING TO U.S TO SEE ME , BABY, RECORDING LP, SIGNING THE DOPEST ACTS THATS HITTIN 2010″
And also, It’s rumored that her new album will be coming out this June because of these twitter messages:
“I THINK IM READY”, “JUNE 2010″
The xx – Crystalized (Keljet Remix)

I got a short email the other day from an electro/house duo from Netherlands called Keljet who just finished a remix of The xx’s “Crystalized“. I don’t know anything else about this duo other than that, but based on this remix that they sent me I can tell they’re pretty good. Check out their Myspace here.

Gorillaz – Superfast Jellyfish
Today Gorillaz premiered a new song on BBC Radio 1. Moments after, they posted a new video of a song on their Youtube channel, which is a preview from their 3rd album ‘Plastic Beach, called “Superfast Jellyfish“. It’s a fun song! I’m definitely loving this.
Since they disabled embedding, I ripped a HD mp3 of the video, and you can either listen to it here or download my HQ rip below. (please credit me if you use this mp3)

*gaaah so I uploaded the wrong song. But now it has been fixed. So download away!
In other news that doesn’t relate to this song, I’m starting to use a mp3 uploading site Quickyshare instead of Usershare. It has a faster server and the cleanliness of the site makes everything so much easier.

The visual for jj’s “Let Go” is so stunning, and artistic.

In support of Girls’ 3rd single “Morning Light”, they released their cover of “End of the World” by Skeeter Davis as a b-side. However, this isn’t the only time that we have heard this track, it has also been included in the Japanese version of their debut album, ‘Album’.
