_Ellie Goulding – “Heartbeats” (The Knife Cover)

Ellie Goulding covers are my favorite – I’d rather prefer listening to her covers than her original songs. She’s covered several artists like Sam Sparro, Rihanna, and Bon Iver. Her most recent was Jose Gonzalez’s rendition of “Heartbeats” by The Knife. Unlike her other covers, she blatantly copies his exact version. It’s definitely not the most creative, but lovely nonetheless.

_Ellie Goulding – “Lights” (Bassnectar Remix)

Bassnectar took UK’s rising pop sensation Ellie Goulding’s “Lights” and took it into a new direction. The once sweet, light pop song now sounds “deep and hypnotic and churning with sub bass”. It has heavy dubstep beats that make the song much more kick ass than it is.

_Coachella Announces 2011 Lineup

…And cue the music festival season.

Coachella has announced their 2011 lineup set for April 15-17th. As usual, the headliners are full of strong artists (I don’t understand Kings of Leon though…). Every year it looks more promising and I wish I could go this year. I wish. Weird how M.I.A. isn’t listed this year, her album came out last summer. Ticket info is on the Coachella website.

If I did go, I would definitely be checking out: Black Keys, Warpaint, Robyn, Crystal Castles, Cut Copy, Brandon Flowers, Sleigh Bells, Rural Alberta Advantage, Arcade Fire, Animal Collective, Mumford & Sons, Empire of the Sun, The Kills, Broken Social Scene, Kanye West, The Strokes (!!), Chromeo, Duck Sauce, and Ellie Goulding.

P.S. I love how they typo’d Crystal Castles. I hope this poster hasn’t been through print yet.

_Ellie Goulding – “Only Girl” (Rihanna Cover)

Ellie Goulding attempts at covering Rihanna’s smash dance pop hit “Only Girl” during Live Lounge at Radio 1, and it is without a doubt, splendid. The heavy bass and electro dance beats are stripped away, leaving only a very raw Ellie Goulding accented voice with acoustic instruments and very talented violin players. I can only say I love this song and Ellie so much more.

_Ellie Goulding – Black & Gold (Sam Sparro Cover)

Two weeks ago we introduced you guys to Ellie Goulding, who has released a couple songs already. This is pretty old, but she covered Sam Sparro’s dance hit “Black & Gold”.

There’s something so sweet and suttle about her voice that I can’t get over with. I’m definitely waiting for new material to be released, perhaps an album? She’s working on her debut album right now with producer Mark Ronson.

_Ellie Goulding – Under The Sheets

Ellie Goulding is the result of Little Boots, Florence + The Machine and Marina and The Diamonds if they had a group orgy. Seriously, this British girl has got some talent, and a beautiful voice. (plus she’s pretty like all the musicians I compared her to!)

Her first single, “Under The Sheets” is a pure, heavenly explosion of indie pop. You can even say that you can hate it because it might sound too mainstream for your liking, but we would all know that is a lie.

She’s currently touring with Little  Boots and Florence, coincidentally.
