_Kid Cudi – Pursuit of Happiness (feat. MGMT and Ratatat)

After exploding the charts up with his incendiary single “Day N Nite” Kid Cudi returns with an interesting combination of artists and another song off his up and coming LP.

Well I’ll admit first seeing this collaboration i was a bit nervous and skeptical. Too many superstars can spoil the broth, or however the old saying goes. But, after several listen through I was proved wrong. With most Hip-Hop these days moving towards more of an electronic direction, rather than the old hip hop, it seems like Kid Cudi is jumping on the bandwagon but moving that wagon down a separate more fruitful path.

What we have here is something unique and it seems Kid Cudi really understands the industry and the people he works with. Because the amount of production value put into the track makes it seem like it was more designed for a cool indie rap sort of hit, rather than a club hit. The track has the same smooth drawn out guitar solo’s that Ratatat is known for and MGMT’s sleek electronic mastering shines through to give it some more depth. I like it alot and its a great song to end the summer with.
