Passion Pit kicks off their first project of the year with an exploding remix of Cold War Kids “Mine Is Yours”, which is their first single off of their 3rd studio album of the same name, to be released in just 4 days via Downtown records.

Passion Pit, yeah they’re undeniable. Fine, fresh, fierce, they’ve got it on lock. I’m a big fan of Passion Pit and their remixes, and they’ve chosen to remix Katy Perry’s “California Gurls”. Admit it or not, “California Gurls” is a very, very catchy tune. It’s hard for me to not sing it all the time.

They haven’t done much to the track other than slow down the tempo (Katy’s voice is noticeably lower) and add a track behind her voice. But it works.

_Passion Pit – Sleepyhead (Piano Acoustic)

After the release of Passion Pit’s “Sleepyhead”, the song was automatically my favorite for a couple of months and I couldn’t stop listening to it. I’ve seem to have forgotten about them for the last couple weeks until now, when I saw that they sang “Sleepyhead” acoustically on the piano on MPR 2 weeks ago.

This once upbeat electronic hyper song is now translated into a goodnight lullaby, and the track stands as its title – Sleepyhead. I want to fall asleep to this. It’s very calming, slow, and relaxing.

_Passion Pit – Little Secrets (Hey Champ Remix)

It’s been awhile since Passion Pit blessed my speakers. So long that I could barely recognized the difference between the band’s original version of “Little Secrets” and Hey Champ’s epic remix. Hey Champ takes Passion Pit’s well-liked “Little Secrets” and awakens it in a new, fresh light for all to rekindle the love for the track.

They take their brilliant production techniques and play with bridge, as well as, remake the sound of the chorus. The remix switches up the baseline and makes it sparkle with a danceable beat. The energy of the original is kept, but the DJs add a new freshness to the overall sound. Adding a “happy go lucky” character to an already popular song, the remix results in undeniable greatness.

This track proves how luminous and talented these guys are. Its basically an 80s dance party on the 1 and 2s.
