_Children’s Choir Covers Phoenix’s “Lisztomania”

The choir that sang with Passion Pit’s lead singer Nate have charmed us all once again by singing Phoenix’s “Lisztomania”. This elementary choir are stars, and I love that the music teacher is so driven with hope in these kids. These kids are blessed and are talented, and I hope every single child knows that.

Thanks to Will for sharing.

_Jersey Shore’s Snooki Interviews Phoenix

I’ve always wanted to get into Jersey Shore but I never got the time – it’s something I want to do though. Everyone talks about it! I feel like I’m missing out. I’ve only seen half of an episode once and it was funny!

Snooki interviewed French rockers Phoenix on the red carpet of the Grammy Awards on Sunday. Why am I posting this? Because it is HILARIOUS. She teaches them what the term guido is and she tells that one guy that he looks like Edward Cullen from Twilight.

_La Blogotheque Films Phoenix

Vincent Moon from La Blogothque’s films and videos have always been wonderful and beautiful, however this one may be the best yet. He filmed Phoenix in the middle of Paris while they were performing on the streets, buses, and under bridges. Not only that, but at the same time captured the great essence of Paris that we all dream of, and people’s reactions to the band (no one knew who they were except for an onlooking couple on their wedding day who had a short conversation with them).

The band played “1901″ which is the video above the text, and below is “Lisztomania” and “One Time Too Many”. During the below clip, they hop onto a double deck tour bus and performed while tourists either ignored them or paid attention. A cute boy and his mom are filming the whole performance as well. Lucky them!

In “Long Distance Call”, the band keeps it cool playing under a bridge.

_Don Diablo vs. Phoenix vs. Jay-Z – 99 Fences

don diablo you will never leave this place1 Don Diablo vs. Phoenix vs. Jay Z 99 Fences

What is it about Phoenix? They are fast-becoming one of the most sampled/remixed/indie-turned-club bands of the year. Now, Don Diablo has taken his stab at a really interesting mashup of “99 Fences,” and Jay-Z’s, “99 Problems.”

Diablo’s forthcoming album is set to drop later this year. Judging by this mix and his most recent remix of Mika’s, “We Are Golden,” I’d say the Don’s search for a new sound is bound to leave us some tasty treats along the way.

I wish this could have surfaced in the summer months (it screams cruising in the sun like no other) but for what it’s worth, this mix fits nicely into the indie/electronic crossover genre. At times it feels like a forced imitation of the Classixx return-to-songwriting vibe – but if they’ve finally started a trend of mixes that actually return to music, I won’t complain.

_Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix (Remix Collection) and Animal Collective Remix ‘Love Like a Sunset’

Phoenix Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix (Remix Collection) and Animal Collective Remix Love Like a Sunset

Phoenix’s ‘Love Like a Sunset’ off of their hit sophomore album Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix is strikingly beautiful, in that this song weaves four parts into one incredible, and lengthy track. It’s balance between the delicate and the strong are one in the same.

‘Love Like a Sunset’ has recently been remixed by Animal Collective and is just one remix off of the soon-to-be released Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix (Remix Collection). As if Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix could have really gotten any better, the remixed album features other heavy hitters of 2009 like YACHT, Chairlift, Passion Pit, Friendly Fire and much, much, more!

Animal Collective’s remix of ‘Love Like a Sunset’ is a true to form and style for Animal Collective, yet is also rings true to Phoenix’s original version. The remix is certainly shorter in length than the seven plus minute track, but it rings true to the story of the original song, just abbreviated.

Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix (Remix Collection) will be released digitally via Glassnote/Loyauté on October 13th.

_Friendly Fires Remix “Fences” by Phoenix

Phoenix+bestbe2 Friendly Fires Remix Fences by Phoenix

The art of remixing is a bit like that of a tightrope walker.  It’s not easy to balance new creative integrity with the integrity of what makes a great song so wonderful.  And with any remix, there are bound to be opinions that fall on either side of the line, leaving little to the middle or indifference.

In listening to the Friendly Fires remixed of “Fences” by 2009’s ‘it’ French pop band Phoenix, those opinions can literally fall anywhere. The original version is a tight, lounged out tune with very distinct guitar and keyboard.  The Friendly Fires remix emphasizes keyboards and adds several loops that appear and disappear throughout the song.  There is much more chaos in the remix in comparison to the smoothed out original.

I’ll leave the opinion up to you on which way this song falls.
