_Ellie Goulding – “Heartbeats” (The Knife Cover)

l Ellie Goulding Heartbeats (The Knife Cover)Ellie Goulding covers are my favorite – I’d rather prefer listening to her covers than her original songs. She’s covered several artists like Sam Sparro, Rihanna, and Bon Iver. Her most recent was Jose Gonzalez’s rendition of “Heartbeats” by The Knife. Unlike her other covers, she blatantly copies his exact version. It’s definitely not the most creative, but lovely nonetheless.

_The Knife – Colouring Pigeons

colouringofpigeons452 The Knife Colouring Pigeons
After a long hiatus and an excellent solo album by Karin, the Knife are back to give us more music for our already salivating mouths. But, don’t expect the convention from this duo, as they are always deviating from the beaten path. This time around they have chosen to create pieces of music designed to fit into an opera. This is all with the help of some friends, Mt. Sims and Planningtorock, who are also electronic artists.

What we have here is definitely not what i expected from the Knife. It’s not exactly a bad thing, but it’s not really what I wanted from them. Albeit interesting and very well crafted, I can’t see myself listening to this song on a regular basis like their previous work. It’s nice to see them venturing off in different directions and really taking the theatrics of their live performances to the next level, but it lacks what I know and love the Knife for.

Have a listen and really take time to consume the music, it works extremely well for what is supposed to be done with it and I can certainly give them kudos for really taking their music in a different directions and being creative. I just hope one day this opera that they and Hotel Pro Forma have planned (which will be about Darwin’s theory of evolution) will make it’s way into the states so I can finally see them live.

_New Music From The Knife

The+Knife+globus New Music From The Knife

After a 4 year hiatus, Swedish electronic duo The Knife is going to be returning back with more material. Just last year, Fever Ray (Karin from the band) released her self-titled solo debut album.

They announced that within the next few days we will be hearing new songs by them which will be premiering on Soundcloud. Check out Soundcloud’s twitter status.

I’m soooo glad right now. I love The Knife and Fever Ray both, so I am happy with what they do next.
