“Utopia” is another song off of YACHT’s record Shanri-La via DFA Records, bound to be released later this month (6/21). The song carries the similar YACHT quirky and funky vibe that they are known for.

We loved “Dystopia” by YACHT, and we love this remix of it. The Jackals injected the track with a groovy beat to keep you dancing while the Earth is on fire. Their next album Shangri-La is out next month on June 27th, via DFA records.

The fashionable, triangle obsessed, and science geek duo YACHT is back with their follow up album to their 2009 release See Mystery Lights. The first single from Shanri-La is “Dystopia” (The World is on Fire) which was apparently written after reading some post-apocalyptic science fiction. I definitely wasn’t expecting something like this from them, but it turned out amazing. They’re giving a free download below, now I hope they release a clean version so I can play this at work.

_YACHT – The Afterlife (Music Video)

If you have a weird fetish for wet clothed people then you’ll like this. Jona and Claire from YACHT have made a music video to “The Afterlife” and it features slow motion scenes of them getting drowned, sprayed, and anything you can do with water possible on them.

I saw them live last month and I’ve got to say that they are terrific. I also interviewed them and I want to put a video up of the interview but first I’ve got to edit it. I’ve been trying to find a video editor for the longest time that’s free and HD (or anything that won’t compress the video size). If you’ve got a program then recommend it to me!

_Phoenix – Armistice (YACHT remix)

The digital-only release Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix (Remix Collection) was released yesterday on the 20th of October.  You may recognize many of those contributing remixes of Phoenix’s fabulous 2009 album. Contributors include Animal Collective, Friendly Fires,  Passion Pit and Chairlift. Fences is so good that it appears 5 times on the remix album!

Which brings us to YACHT’s remix of “Armistice”. YACHT a.k.a Jona Bechtolt had a hit single with “Psychic City (Voodoo City)” and his latest album See Mystery Lights was well-received. I think of a good remix as one that betters the original, or one that takes it in a different and good direction. I’m still not so sure about this one. What do you think?
